Insulation is where it all began for Rab®. From the early days in Patagonia and Sheffield where Rab Carrington harnessed his knowledge of outdoor clothing and equipment design, through to present-day Derbyshire, our team continues to redefine the future of insulation technology.

This dedication to insulation is evident in our range of women's insulated jackets. Combining this understanding with our revolutionary materials and exceptional constructing ability, we are able to craft women's down jackets or synthetic insulated jackets for specific uses, whether it's climbing mountains, polar expeditions, or everyday use in winter months. The Rab® collection of ladies insulated jackets are perfectly suited to excel in winter conditions, with our ultra-warm waterproof down jackets offering unrivalled levels of weather protection. Choose between a more packable, lightweight down-filled jacket, a long down jacket, or why not browse our range of synthetic insulated jackets, which use modern fabric technologies to replicate the warmth to weight benefits of down.

If you're unsure between the choice of down vs synthetic insulation, then why not check out the Rab® insulation guide for further information to help you decide. Our quick and easy jacket wash service will have your insulated jacket cleaned, fully lofted, refreshed, and returned to you in time for your next adventure. Women’s insulated jacket FAQs.

Are insulated jackets waterproof?

While insulated jackets offer excellent warmth, they are not always waterproof. However, we offer a range of jackets that are both waterproof and insulated.

Many of our jackets feature water-resistant shells for light rain or snow, but pairing them with a waterproof shell ensures full weather protection in heavy precipitation.

How do I choose between down and synthetic insulation?

Down insulation provides the best warmth-to-weight ratio, making it ideal for cold, dry conditions. Synthetic insulation is better for damp or unpredictable weather, as it retains warmth even when wet. Check out our insulation guides for more details on finding the right option for your needs.
