How to Wash Your Synthetic Jacket

How to wash a synthetic insulated jacket.

We know washing your synthetic jacket can be a little daunting, but the good news is it’s quite straightforward. Just remember to check the care label for any instructions that are specific to your jacket.

Follow these simple steps to get your synthetic insulated jacket clean, refreshed and performing at its best.

  1. Run your washing machine on a rinse cycle to remove any residual detergent and softeners.

  2. Ensure all zips and hook-and-loop fastenings are closed.

  3. Use a non-biological liquid detergent, pure soap, or a technical cleaner. Avoid biological detergent and don’t use fabric conditioner, as this can coat the synthetic fill and reduce its thermal efficiency.

  4. Machine wash on a cool, gentle setting, ideally 30ºC.

  5. Tumble dry on a low heat or synthetic setting to help restore the loft and reactivate the DWR (durable water repellent) treatment.

  6. Regularly check your synthetic insulated jacket to ensure it’s drying evenly.

  7. You can also hand wash synthetic items if you don’t have access to a washing machine.

  8. Never dry clean or iron your synthetic jacket.
