Christian de Jong

Christian is a mountain enthusiast who is always looking for the next adventure. His mountaineering career started when he climbed his first mountains in the US in 2017.Ā Since then, he has completed numerous ascents in the European Alps and the Himalayas, taking on technical routes and especially enjoying long, challenging climbs.Ā Ā
Besides climbing in the Alps, he has reached several technical peaks of 6000 and 7000 metres. These include - Kyajo Ri, Cholatse, Pumori, and the the first Dutch ascent of Nuptse, without the use of supplementary oxygen. A technical climb to a 7861-metre peak that is rarely climbed. For this achievement he was awarded the Herman Plugge Irish Coffee Award, the ultimate prize for extraordinary climbing performance, presented by the Dutch Climbing and Mountaineering Association (NKBV).Ā
Besides climbing, he is an avid runner, participating in ultra running events. His current running project is running 24 trail marathons in the year 2024.Ā Ā
