Men's waterproof jacket FAQs.

How do I choose a waterproof jacket?

Your choice of a waterproof jacket depends on several factors. Consider your activities, the conditions you expect, and the terrain you will navigate.

You should consider the fit, level of waterproof rating (hydrostatic head), the weight, and which features you might find helpful.

Do waterproof jackets stay waterproof?

Yes, they do, but due to our commitment to reducing forever chemicals (PFAS), you may notice your waterproof jacket start to appear wet more quickly. This doesn’t mean it's no longer waterproof. However, it does mean that the breathability is compromised, and you might feel a little clammy as a result.

Frequent washing and reproofing will help prevent this, and it's more important than ever to keep our waterproof jackets in action for many more adventures.

What is a 3-layer construction?

In a 3-layer construction, the membrane is sandwiched between an outer fabric and an extremely light woven or knitted inner fabric.

Our most durable shell garments commonly feature a 3-layer waterproof technology construction. This fabric allows us to create hardwearing gear that is still lightweight and relatively packable.

What's the difference between waterproof and water resistant?

Waterproof and water-resistant jackets differ mainly in their protection against water. Waterproof jackets are designed to keep you completely dry in heavy rain for extended periods. Our waterproof jackets feature sealed seams and high waterproof ratings (hydrostatic head) for ultimate protection.

On the other hand, water-resistant jackets offer lighter waterproofing and are suitable for short or light showers. These jackets may lack taped seams and might not have the same high waterproof rating as their waterproof counterparts. They are typically more breathable and lightweight, making them ideal for activities where full waterproofing is not crucial.
