Narrow Dimensions Backpacks Explained

What are ‘ND’ backpacks?

You may have noticed some of our backpacks have the letters ND in the name.

Our ND narrow dimensions backpacks are built with different proportions to our regular packs, making them ideally suited to anyone with a smaller frame. They’re designed to provide a comfortable and supportive fit for women or men with a narrower build.

Why do some backpack styles not have an ND option?

Some of our backpacks are small enough that they’re already suitable for people with narrower frames. In the case of our vest-style packs, they’re built without a fixed back system and come in small, medium, and large sizes, so there’s no need for an ND option.

Why do some ND backpacks have a lower volume than the regular version?

For our smaller day packs, reducing the dimensions has a noticeable effect on the pack's capacity. In other words, we must reduce the pack volume to produce a narrow dimensions version with the same design proportions.

When we create packs with higher volumes, we can tweak the back system without having as much of an impact on the design of the pack. This means that for packs over 50L, our ND and regular packs have the same capacity.
