WA Expo Guest Speaker
Lyndsay McLaren

The 8th of October this year marks a huge day in the outdoor calendar. In Manchester, The Climbing Depot will play host to the 6th annual Women’s Climbing Symposium while in Bristol, The Women’s Adventure Expo enters its second year with speakers including Anna McNuff and Rab's PR Co-ordinator Lyndsay McLaren.

Just a few short years ago, the idea of either of these events existing, let alone both occurring on the same day, would have been unimaginable. It is a fantastic sign of how far the Outdoor Industry has come that a once male-dominated field is now host to two such successful women’s events. Rab are proud to be able to support both the now well-established Women’s Climbing Symposium and the burgeoning Women’s Adventure Expo as both events continue their work seeking to inspire, empower and connect women across the spectrum of outdoor activities.

The Women’s Climbing Symposium will this year feature 3 headline speakers, including US bouldering legend Lisa Rabnds, 8 focus talks and 10 practical workshops. Rab athlete Libby Peter will also be in attendence. Tickets for both the full event and a “talks only” option are still available via the WCS website.

As founders Tania John and Rebecca Hughes take the Women’s Adventure Expo into its second year, they are hoping to build on the huge success of their inaugural event. Initially set up to focus on raising awareness for female adventurers and female-led exploration, the event has now evolved into a community interest company. This moves the expo, beyond a single event and into the realms of social enterprise where they will be able to collaborate more directly with a variety of female-led projects.

Members of the Rab team will be in attendance at both events and look forward to experiencing first-hand the hard work the event organisers have put into providing two events that will, with any luck, continue to inspire women through adventure and sporting excellence.
