Rachael is a mountaineering and climbing instructor living in Snowdonia who specialises in teaching independence in the mountains, both for individuals and for those aspiring to become leaders. She works as a trainer for the Mountain Leader scheme at Plas Y Brenin and also within the military adventurous training structure. She is committed to increasing diversity in the outdoors and she is part of the Equity and Diversity Working Group for the Association of Mountaineering Instructors. This starts with more women but it doesn’t end there. She enjoys every type of climbing but considers long, adventurous trad her first love. An outdoor all-rounder, Rachael also works for British Cycling, training the next generation of leaders and guides on mountain bike and road bikes. Like anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors, she is a stickler for good equipment and loves testing kit to the limit. She also reports on new product technology for UKClimbing.com. Her favourite Rab piece is the Vapourise jacket, for versatility, windproofing and excellent pockets.
