Our sleeping bag technologies.

Our sleeping bag technologies.

For more than forty years, we’ve pushed the boundaries of what a sleeping bag can do. From pioneering insulation techniques to refining the smallest construction details, every innovation has been shaped by real-world experience in the world’s toughest environments.

Our sleeping bag range is engineered with the latest evolution of that expertise. Here we’ve broken down the technologies behind our bags: how they work, why they matter to you, and the science that keeps you warm when it counts.

L.O.F.T™

L.O.F.T™ stands for Lightweight Offset Fill Technology.

We use this trapezoidal baffle construction in a selection of our down sleeping bags to deliver an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio.

By offsetting the baffles, we prevent cold spots from appearing along stitch lines and give the sleeping bag more structure, keeping the insulation stable and evenly distributed.

This helps the down to fully loft and work more effectively, bringing you the all-night warmth you need in mountain environments.

And because it’s so efficient, we can use less insulation overall – creating a lighter, more packable bag that’s ideal for backpacking, trekking, and all-mountain use.

L.O.F.T 3D™

Our pinnacle sleeping bag construction, L.O.F.T 3D™ builds on our L.O.F.T™ technology by using the same trapezoidal baffles, but with the addition of a unique twisted helix structure.

This creates natural funnel points that keep the down in place without the need to use extra stitching, which can add to the overall weight of the bag.

By preventing the fill from migrating, we stop cold spots from appearing as you move in your sleep, ensuring you won’t get woken up by that midnight chill. It also allows us to achieve high levels of warmth with less down, further reducing weight and bulk.

The result is a sleeping bag that’s geared up for technical missions where warmth, weight, and pack size are critical, from minimalist thru-hikes to multi-day ascents.

WARM WAVE™

We use this construction method in our synthetic sleeping bags to help the insulation trap heat more effectively and boost the warmth-to-weight ratio.

The baffles are filled with our Stratus™ sheet insulation in a concertina shape, creating pockets of warm air that mimic the loft and performance of down. This allows us to use insulation with a lower GSM, or thickness, to achieve the same warmth.

The bag is lighter and more packable as a result, with no compromise on all-night comfort.

Thermo Ionic Lining Technology (TILT)

TILT is a heat-reflective fabric treatment designed to substantially reduce radiant heat loss from your body. It boosts the warmth-to-weight ratio of your sleeping bag, without any compromise to pack size or breathability.

We use two different types of TILT in our sleeping bags:

  • Visible lining, where titanium particles are applied directly to the lining fabric and give it a silver sheen.

  • Built-in scrim, where we use aluminium particles to coat an ultra-thin, gauze-like layer that is part of the bag’s construction.

Whichever form we use, the TILT is placed as close to the body as possible to reflect heat back towards you, making the bag considerably warmer for virtually no extra weight.
