In his new TV series, airing Monday, Rab athlete Richard Parks explores the wild spaces and unique adventures on offer in his home country of Wales.

Cameras have followed Richard all over the globe in recent months, most notably on his summer research expedition to Everest. Project Everest Cynllun, a documentary covering this world first attempt to study the effects of Oxygen deprivation on cognitive performance, is due to be broadcast later in the year. But before that, Richard is taking an adventure a little closer to home in 'Extreme Wales with Richard Parks'.

The three-part series starts on Monday September 12 at 7.30pm on BBC One Wales and will air over 3 weeks. Viewers across the UK will be able to watch the series live on BBC iplayer by clicking here or by watching BBC One Wales on satellite/cable. The series is also due to be broadcast on network BBC 2 later in the autumn.

The program follows Richard as he takes on 3 very different challenges that celebrate the wonders of the Welsh landscape; pioneering the highest cycle route in Wales from the Brecon Beacons to Snowdon, overcoming a fear of enclosed spaces as he descends to the base of the UK’s deepest cave system and learning to kayak on one of Wales’s longest and most ferocious rivers, the Teifi.
