Hannah Smith is GB Athlete and a British Bouldering Champion. She started 2020 with an impressive victory to give her the Welsh Junior Bouldering Champion title. Based in Glasgow, she took up climbing in 2013 after her brother joined the local youth squad.
What’s been you highlight climbing so far?
The highlight so far was my first senior British Bouldering Championships in 2018 where I placed 4th. It was my first major senior event and it qualified me for the GB Senior Squad. It also gave me a lot of confidence and within a year I had become junior British Bouldering and Lead Climbing Champion and I was 4th again in the senior championships in 2019.
What does your training look like?
I have been working with Lattice Training for two years. I train six days a week and it’s a mix of climbing and conditioning training.
What do you have coming up next?
I have prequalified for the junior British team so I will be competing in as many international competitions as possible.
Favourite piece of Rab kit?
It’s so difficult to pick my favourite bit of Rab kit. I love it all! I particularly love the Women’s Alpha Flux Jacket as it’s very flexible and breathable but also warm - perfect for warming up in. I also love the momentum shorts which are very light and great for keeping cool at international competitions where it can be up to 35 degrees sometimes.
