Based in North Wales, in summer Tom works in Snowdonia and on the Cuillin Ridge of Skye. In winter, he instructs skiing in Zermatt, and has done 6 winter seasons in the Highlands of Scotland.


Tom is a member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors, British Association of International Mountain Leaders (BAIML), British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI), and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

He has done eight ski seasons in the European Alps as well as ski guiding on the volcanoes of Hokkaido, Japan. He has overwintered in Antarctica while working as a Field Guide for the British Antarctic Survey (2017 – 2019) and has led over 20 commercial expeditions, including trips to Stok Kangri (6153m), Kilimanjaro (5895m) x 4, Elbrus (5642m) x 6 (ski, north, south & solo traverse), Aconcagua (6962m) x 2, Kinabalu (4095m) x 2 and Toubkal (4167m) x 2, as well as trips to Nepal, Ecuador, Bolivia, Ethiopia & Malaysia.

In addition, he has done numerous 4000ers of the European Alps (including Mont Blanc x3), Chimborazo (6268m), Cayambe (5790m), winter ascents of Liotard (2225m) & Barré (2195m) in Antarctica, a ski tour along the spine of the Canadian Rockies. Closer to home, he has walked Lands’ End to John o’Groats with his Dad, done multiple coast to coast walks and a round of the Scottish Munros.
