Angela grew up in suburban Detroit, which she describes as “wild and raw, a string of epic adventures.” Angela’s curiosity and love for adventure kept her thriving in Detroit, but also kept her mind wandering elsewhere, to bigger adventures.  Eventually, she left the mitten state for an extended bike trip through Canada and the U.S. Northwest. After returning to Michigan, Angela decided to sell all of her belongings and hit the road hitch-hiking across the western half of North America. Eventually, Angela found herself in Ouray, CO and discovered what would become her lasting passion; ice climbing.

Beginning in 2014, Angela joined fellow Rab Athlete Scott Adamson for an explosive spurt of large ice route development in Southwest Utah.  Over the course of three weeks Angela and Scott established nearly a dozen ice routes up to 450’ tall.

In the years since, Angela has developed a skillset and tick list that would be the envy of many seasoned alpinists, from first ascents throughout Utah, including the development of “Zion Ice,” to the First Ascent of “Thicker Than Thieves” on Mt. Hayes and a free solo of “Ham and Eggs” in Alaska.

Despite her rapid progression, Angela has maintained a passion for the climbing lifestyle and an appreciation for the opportunity to spend time outside with people she loves, pushing herself physically and mentally in inspiring landscapes.

Her strongest motivation lies in “big, aesthetic alpine objectives in faraway places; Remote, cultured locations where my life seems to be in great contrast.”
