There could not have been more appropriate weather for The Climbers Shop in Stony Stratford to launch as an Expedition Stockists. With a Siberian blast covering much of the UK in deep snow and plunging temperatures into the minus figures, the scene was very much set for a discussion of the merits of down insulation.
To celebrate their new Expedition Status, providing the full range of Rab expedition equipment to those tackling the limits of altitude or the farthest polar reaches, The Climbers Shop had arranged a full expedition event. The store was opened for the whole weekend with staff discussing planning, logistics and clothing for expedition climbing with those planning trips and expeditions to the world’s greater ranges. Expert advice was on hand from shop staff as well as International Federation of Mountain Guides Association Director Adrian Nelhams and Rab Carrington himself, who first began manufacturing expedition clothing and equipment over 30 years ago.
Despite the difficult travelling conditions, the shop was busy throughout the weekend, demonstrating the high level of interest in expedition travel. The Rab Team were also in attendance, running a competition to win some of our newest down clothing, discussing key products with customers and explaining the history of expedition clothing with the help of Rab himself.
Rab Expedition Stockists
Our expedition clothing is designed specifically for use at high altitude and on polar expeditions, providing the high levels of protection necessary in these extreme environments. Our expedition down clothing is hand-filled at our headquarters in Derbyshire and sold by select retail partners whose staff receive regular, comprehensive training to make sure those undertaking serious expeditions are outfitted safely. Commenting on the addition of The Climbers Shop to our Expedition Stockists, Chris Vanderhoven (Head of Rab UK Sales) commented – “It’s great to have the Climbers Shop certified as a Rab Expedition Stockist, adding their expertise to the sale of our most important equipment and providing a fantastic resource to those from the South of England who are looking to learn more about expedition kit.”
