In early 2013 he made the first ever solo enchainement of all three Towers of Paine, which took 29 days. It made its mark on Pedro in more ways than one; he lost 10kg during the epic. In training for the task he kept all the windows in his house and car open throughout winter and often used extra fans to build tolerance to discomfort. This was followed by a solo attempt on Nameless Tower in Pakistan, on which terrible conditions forced retreat.
“My motivation always has been to travel, discover walls all over the world and live through experiences. I have climbed in different zones of five continents. Although I climb anywhere, I have a penchant for big walls and terrain of adventure. For a few years I prefer climbing in solitary in complicated terrain. My last achievement was The First Integral traverse in solitary to the Paine´s Towers, which was nominated for the Piolet d’Or. My nearest future project is to climb solo the Nameless Tower in Pakistan, one of the longest routes in the world.” – Pedro
